Pennsylvania School Law requires that all applicants for employment in public and private schools, employees of independent contractors seeking business with public and private schools, and student teacher candidates undergo background checks if they will have direct contact with students.

Free Clearances

Paraprofessional Requirement Certificate

This requires annual renewal of 20 hours

  • Individuals who hold only a GED, high school diploma or less than 48 undergrad credits, it is a requirement to complete the Bureau of Special Education Paraprofessional Credential of Competency (Standard 1 to Standard 10). CLICK HERE to obtain the paraprofessional requirement.
  • Individuals who hold 48 undergrad credits or higher, Associates, Bachelors or Master’s degree can complete any courses of their choosing. CLICK HERE to obtain the paraprofessional requirement.

Reporting Arrests and Convictions (Act 24)

  2. . Complete Section 1, 2, and 3 in full. Please read the form carefully – Report on the form if you have been arrested for OR convicted of an offense or offenses listed on page 3 of the form “List of Reportable Offenses.”

Clearances to be Obtained with Payment

Department of Education FBI Record Check

The cost is approximately $25.00. Valid for 1 year. Click here for directions to obtain a new certificate.

  1. Go to https://uenroll.identogo.com/ and enter in service code: 1KG6Q9 and click Go.
  2. Select schedule or manage appointment.
  3. Fill out all required information and click on next.
  4. Create a security question and answer and remember it. Once your background check is complete, you will be prompted with this question in order to access your unofficial criminal history information.
  5. To find a location to get your fingers printed, input your zip code and choose the nearest location to go get your fingers printed.
  6. The FBI unofficial results clearance will be available to you via your email that you used to submit in your request within 2 - 14 business days. Check your email daily to look out for the online results. Access to the unofficial results is one-time use only so please download and save it before you exit the window.
  7. Email your FBI unofficial results to Clearances@MeetCTP.com

Child Abuse History

The cost is approximately $13.00. Valid for 1 year. Click here for directions to obtain a new certificate.

  1. Go to the Child Welfare Portal at https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
  2. Select "Create an Individual Account” and then on the following page, select next.
  3. On the Create Keystone ID: Profile Information page, create a 6 – 10-character User Name (Your Name) for your Keystone ID. Complete the remaining questions on the page and select Finish.
  4. The state will e-mail you a temporary password. Use this password to then log back into the site https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home and then create a new password. Select “Login” and select “Access My Clearances.”
  5. Once this is completed, select "create clearance application."
  6. Enter all required information into the system.
  7. Select on the option: Employee of child care services.
  8. Fill out the information on your parent or grandparent to move to the next page.
  9. Make the payment via credit card. *Payment only can be done through credit card.
  10. The Child Abuse History clearance will be available to you via the Child Welfare Portal within 2 - 14 business days. Log in to the site daily to check for the online results.
  11. When you receive your result, download, save a copy and email to Clearances@MeetCTP.com

Pennsylvania Criminal History

The cost is approximately $22.00. **Volunteer certificate in not accepted** Valid for 1 year. Click here for directions to obtain a new certificate.

  1. To obtain PATCH record click on the link https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
  2. Click on Submit a New Record Check and select Individual Request.
  3. Fill out the required information and click finish.
  4. Review the request information and click to proceed.
  5. Make the payment via credit card. *Payment only can be done through credit card.
  6. Once the payment done, saved the Control number.
  7. Go to Record Check Status and fill out the required information and click search.
  8. Click on the Control number to view the certificate.
  9. Click on Print Certificate and on the top of the print window, select “Print to PDF’ to save it as a PDF file.
  10. Save a copy and email to Clearances@MeetCTP.com

Tuberculosis TB Test

The approximate price for the TB Skin Test is $65.00. Click here for directions to obtain a new certificate.

  • Results must be within three months of your contract start date with CTP.
  • TB test can be administered at your local doctor’s office, CVS, Walgreen, Walk-in Clinics, etc.
  • Email copy of results to Clearances@MeetCTP.com.
