Special Education Paraprofessional - Philadelphia

Connecting the Pieces is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide services to a student during school and camp hours for approximately 30 hours per week. The Special Education Paraprofessional will accompany the student daily to and from camp The Paraprofessional will have the opportunity to start working with their student in the home prior to the start of camp in June.

Schedule: 30 hours per week beginning June 2022

6 hours per day

M&W 8:15am-2:30pm

Tu, Th, F 8:15am-4pm


  • Male (preferred) with some experience with special needs population
  • Accepting of total communication approach
  • Will meet at family home ( Philadelphia- 19128)
  • Will have to be transported to and from via school bus/van to camp program
  • Will be responsible for toileting/ clothing and other ADL supports
  • Ability to deal with student’s severe food allergies
  • Understanding of the balance between providing enough support to keep student safe, engaged and progressing while recognizing that he is also a teenager (17yo) who wants to fit in with his peers
  • COVID protocol: provider is required to wear a mask at all times

  • Provide services to students in the home and camp setting.
  • Implement student’s behavior plan throughout the school day
  • Monitor and collect data on each IEP goal and identified target areas of concern
  • Work collaboratively with the IEP team, including school and behavioral personnel
  • Obtain daily signatures/authorizations from parent or guardian
  • Input data into CTP and school specific systems regarding schedules, hours worked, attendance, cancellations, mileage, and other required information in a timely fashion
  • Assist student to meet individual goals and objectives
  • Maintain open and continuous communication with CTP office staff
  • Ride the camp bus with student leaving from the students home each weekday.




  • Associate degree and/or two years of postsecondary study (48 college credits)
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience working with children who have special needs
  • Available during typical school hours
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build a rapport with student(s) and team members
  • Well-organized and reliable
  • PA State and FBI clearances
  • Personal transportation preferred
